| I am highly qualified, experienced, and have a strong commitment not only to Teacher Education in general, but to the fields of ESOL and Literacy specifically. The professional accomplishment that may best exemplify this was my experience as program coordinator for the development of an E.S.O.L. endorsement program offered to students in the Early Childhood Department of Georgia State University. I am particularly proud of this achievement, as I spearheaded the design, PSC state accreditation process, and subsequent NCATE approval. The approval process was extensive, requiring vast amounts of documentation, research, and site visits. Once the program was in place for two years, the university, and subsequently my program, was reviewed by NCATE and passed with the highest ratings. |

| I also have a wide range of public and private school classroom experience. I have taught in early childhood, elementary, and middle school settings, including two-way bilingual and E.S.O.L. programs. Additionally, I have extensive experience at the undergraduate and graduate level, including supervision, course design, program design and teaching courses in reading/literacy, E.S.O.L. methods, cultural diversity, and linguistics. My own lived experiences as a bicultural/ bilingual Cuban-American continue to fuel my passion for language acquisition and diversity awareness for students of all ages. |
